To live for Christ ❤️
We are in a culture where first priority is always self.
Yet, this is not the Christian way! I think this is why so many people have no problem saying or doing hurtful, hateful & horrid things to others. Simply because, their own selfish desires come first… before anyone or anything else.
I want to say, of course I am aiming all of this at myself as well! As much as I wish it weren’t true, I have been a selfish girl plenty of times!
However; there are some people that I shall never understand. The kind of people who can treat other humans in disgusting ways is beyond me. (And when these selfish creatures do not get their way, they get angry at you and dump you!)
It’s easy (really easy!) to become self focused.
Self love. Self pity. Self absorbed. Selfishness.
Ah, self pity! That is an easy trap to get involved in! To have a good fit of crying and go around with a “Woe is me” attitude is very easy to fall in. (Yep, it’s a tempting one for myself as well!)
It’s called: Depression. Despair. Defeat. You know, “Nobody knows what I’m going through! Absolutely no one understands. Everyone is against me. People have no idea what I’ve been through!” Etc., etc., etc… the list goes on.
But really, if you stop & think about it, probably every individual in the entire world has thought the same things at some point of their lives. (No, you’re NOT the only one who goes through hardships!)
It seems simple enough…
Treat others the way you wish to be treated. “Yeah, yeah. The Golden Rule. I learned that in Sunday school.”
(Luke 6:31)
Sure, many know of it… but how many people are actually implementing it into their daily lives? To treat others the way we wish to be treated is absolutely necessary. Our selfish natures coupled with the world’s agenda entice us to focus on only our own interests, desires & achievements.
“Do whatever is best for YOU.”
“Do more of what makes YOU happy. “
This world is pushing a selfish lifestyle in every way.
Will you be a part of it?
To put others before ourselves is not something we can accomplish on our own. What we need is the mind of Christ!
The King of the universe has shown the greatest demonstration of a selfless love- He left His glorious position in Heaven to come down to earth. He made Himself of no reputation & took on the form of a servant. He, who knew no sin became sin FOR US. “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”
2 Corinthians 5:21 KJV
I love this passage below!
“If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies, fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: but made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
Philippians 2:1-11 KJV
Wow! Talk about humility! While Jesus was on earth, He spent His time serving others, healing the broken hearts, curing diseases, opening the eyes of the blind & the ears of the deaf… And even stooped down to wash His disciples’ feet! (John 13:5)
What an extravagant demonstration of humility & love. ❤️
To lead a self centered life is miserable. It’s never going to bring you true happiness or peace when you live for yourself.
When we put our beloved Saviour first & foremost in our lives, it will become our natural instinct to put others above ourselves. ❤️
Jesus
Others
Yourself
It will bring the ultimate joy! ❤️
May God grant the grace we need to be less focused on ourselves!
“For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”
Philippians 1:21 KJV
