Behind the scenes in an average Hartinger night
Wow. Well, we had a rather lively evening last night!
After working in our business all day, it was time for some ballet workouts, stretches and of course, dancing! π©°
Goaties fed, dinner made, dishes washed, chickens put up to bed, best friends over- That’s when Hope decided that it was time for a Boggle tournament.
Let’s pause here.
The reason Hope is suggesting this game is merely due to the unfortunate fact that it is *she* who typically wins.
Every. Single. Time. Oh, sigh.
That being said, let’s get back to last night.
It looks something like this: A bunch of heads huddled around the central object of the game: The Cube.
Focused. Highly irritated. Determined to win. This is a competition. (Hartingers are, well, competitive at times!)
All the while we are trying our best to not be distracted by the guy in the corner watching us play. He remains silent, yet he’s somehow demanding attention. The look on his face is screaming “Forget the game, girls! Look who’s here!”
Sorry, but this is more than a game… I have got to beat Hope! (At least once!)
The sound of pencils scratching voraciously against the paper is filling the silence. (Well, it wasn’t exactly silent. Vivaldi’s four seasons was busily humming in the background.)
I can’t seem to get Hope off the phone. So I tell her to stop texting, as it’s too much of a distraction.
(Now, how one can be texting, yet still managing to win the game is beyond me.)
At this point Mr. Cute Guy is, uh, happily crinkling his soda bottle with glee.
Finally someone cries out, “Mister, would you stop that?! It’s sooo annoying!” He looks up with a mischievous look in his eyes and goes back to crinkling. Obviously he’s enjoying being a complete nuisance.
BTW: This guy is such a couch potato with zero sense of fun! He spent the entire night eating and lounging around.
How boring. (Almost as boring as my blog viewers…)
But I don’t want to sound rude. He is very protective, brave, and sweet. ❤️
He’s just not interested in word games.
Okay, so now everyone is getting kinda rowdy. Probably due to our rather large cup of late night coffee! Oops. Bad idea.
People are shouting out their words…
“Did anyone get such-n-such???”
“Hey! You can’t find the word sis, That’s an abbreviation!”
All the usual word are getting spit out faster than a wild tennis match…
Pot. Not. Thou. Trow. Wist. Note. Jet. Blah, blah, blah.
And then… That one word that made the night worthwhile for your’s truly. I smile and ask, “Anybody get… BASEMENT?!”
Yes! Nobody got it! So I like actually beat Hope! Wow. Amazing.
(Only if you’ve ever actually played boggle do you then realize how amazing it is to find an 8 letter word!)
So you’re probably wondering who the winner of the entire tournament was, right?
Guess…
Yep! Hope.
Then we played some epic music and danced around like maniacs.
Well, that was pretty much-ish the night.
The end.
P. S. Oh, before everyone starts freaking out…
The cute guy was our German Shepherd, Jehu. ❤️
Hope was texting our parents.
Yep, it’s a true story.
Ask me no questions and I’ll tell ya no lies.
Have a lovely day! ❤️
Oh my, yes! What a fun evening! Haha You did beat me fair and square,
ReplyDeleteEXCEPT, the more players you have the worse chance you have of winning! ;)
Funny how the way you word something can really change the whole perspective. ;)
How fun! π❤️❤️❤️
Ha! π Yes, it was a rather interesting evening… However, y’all tore me away from practicing Vivaldi’s winter on my violin when I was just getting it! Then, we played such magnificent pieces in the background, so I was heavily distracted in my mind- a thousand miles away- dreaming of the violin! π
ReplyDelete"(Now, how one can be texting, yet still managing to win the game is beyond me.)" LOL! That made me crack up.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason I've always just enjoyed observing people playing board type games, it's more fun to me than joining. Sounds like a fun game to observe :)
Oh, haha! Glad you got a little laugh out of it! I had a lot of fun writing it! π Did you ever play Boggle with us? I thought we had at the beach that time… can’t remember tho.

I think you guys brought it but I think we ended up being too exhausted or busy from the beach to do it, ha. π
